Drug Uses
Cardura is indicated for treatment of high blood pressure and signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
How Taken
Take Cardura as directed by your doctor. This drug may be taken with or without a meal.
Warnings/Precautions
Before taking Cardura, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if you have allergies to medicines, if you are allergic to any ingredient in Cardura, if you have prostate cancer, low blood pressure, kidney problems, or liver disorders, if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breast–feeding. If you plan on becoming pregnant, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Cardura during pregnancy. It is unknown if Cardura is excreted in breast milk. If you are or will be breast–feeding while you are using Cardura, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby. Some medicines may interact with Cardura. Therefore tell your doctor of all prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement that you are taking. Before drinking alcohol, talk to your doctor about it. Alcohol may worsen dizziness and lightheadedness. Be careful during exercise, hot weather, and if you must stand for long periods of time. Avoid situations where fainting could cause injury. If fainting occurs, lie down and stop taking this medication until you talk with your doctor. Although rare, it is possible for men to suffer from a painful penis erection, sustained for hours and unrelieved by sexual intercourse or masturbation. If this occurs, you should seek immediate medical attention to avoid possible permanent impotence. Lab tests, including blood pressure, may be performed to monitor your progress and to check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments. Cardura is not recommended for use in children. Safety and effectiveness have not been confirmed.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
Possible Side Effects
Some of the Possible Side Effects are– Back pain, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, feeling of a whirling motion, flu–like symptoms, headache, indigestion, lightheadedness, nasal congestion, nausea, pain, stomach pain, swelling, tiredness. Contact your doctor if any of these or other side effects occur. If you experience any of the following serious side effects, you should seek medical attention immediately– allergic reactions (rash, hives, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue), blurred vision, chest pain, fainting, painful and prolonged penile erection, pounding in the chest, puffiness in hands or feet, swelling of eyelids.
Storage
Store Cardura at 68 – 77 °F (20 – 25 °C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Cardura out of the reach of children.
Overdose
If overdose is suspected seek medical attention immediately. Some of the symptoms of Cardura overdose are– severe drowsiness, severe headache, slow reflexes
More Information
Cardura may cause drowsiness or dizziness. These effects may worsen if Cardura is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Use Cardura with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to this drug. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, contact your doctor. Cardura should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Do not take less or more or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.

Plendil is used for treatment of high blood pressure, alone or with other medications.
Coreg is used for treatment of high blood pressure and mild to severe heart failure. Coreg may be used alone or with other medications.
Microzide is indicated to treat edema, and high blood pressure. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Frumil is used to treat high blood pressure or congestive heart failure. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Avapro is indicated for treatment of high blood pressure. It is also used for treatment of kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Zestoretic is indicated for treatment of hypertension. It may be used alone or with other medicines. It may also be used for other conditions.
Alphagan is indicated for lowering eye pressure in patients with wideangle glaucoma or high blood pressure of the eye.
Lozol is used for treating high blood pressure, swelling or congestive heart failure due to excess fluid in the body.
Altace is used for treatment of high blood pressure and decreases the risk of heart attack, stroke, and death in certain patients.
Lotensin is indicated for treatment of high blood pressure. It may be used alone or with other blood pressure medicines.
Lotrel is used for treatment of high blood pressure. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Moduretic is used to treat high blood pressure and fluid retention.
